September is National Preparedness Month (#NatlPrep) and this year’s theme is Disasters Don’t Plan Ahead. You Can. It’s important to focus on planning for a disaster because it’s something everyone can do – even if you don’t realize it.

In honor of Older Americans Month, the Division of Senior and Adult Services (DSAS) wanted to spotlight a Cuyahoga resident who embodies this year’s theme of “Age My Way.” We found the most amazing example in Centenarian Vaddie B. Todd.

“Normal business hours” don’t work for everybody. We know some consumers have trouble finding time during the day to call consumer advice lines. So during National Consumer Protection Week (March 5-11), Cleveland-area consumer agencies are participating in evening and weekend events designed to get you expert advice -- on your schedule.

This year, Bike Cleveland, in partnership with Cuyahoga County, Cleveland Metroparks, Cleveland and Garfield Heights, is hosting the county-wide Celebrate Trails Day event.

Since 2005, the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County has provided Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training to law enforcement agencies across Cuyahoga County. This forty-hour training provides law enforcement officers, and other members of the public safety community, with training on de-escalating crises.

The Cuyahoga County Department of Consumer Affairs is warning residents to be extremely cautious handling texts, emails, and social media posts regarding COVID-19 and/or government stimulus checks.
