Banks and Credit Unions: Partner with Scam Squad
Cuyahoga County Department of Consumer Affairs invites banks and credit unions to test the effectiveness of the Scam Squad Teller Tool, a new scam prevention handout.
Scam Squad worked with bankers, psychologists and crisis intervention specialists to create a simple handout that would:
- Quickly break the powerful hold scammers have over victims.
- Stop a dollar loss before a customer withdraws money to pay a scammer.
- Be fast and easy for tellers to use.
Tellers are often the last real person a customer interacts with before paying a scammer. The Scam Squad Teller Tool gives tellers a better way to disrupt a scam in those critical minutes while the customer is at the bank.
Financial institutions must have at least one branch in Cuyahoga County to participate.
